This is the second time I have visited Caff at Sandbanks. It is in a row of cafes and restaurants, next to Rick Stein’s Sandbanks restaurant. And being in one of the richest areas in the UK, you would expect the quality to be high. You will not be disappointed. It’s a great place for breakfast.

Last time I took my dog with me and she savaged the waitress for approaching the table. You see, when my dog gets a table in a cafe, it’s her table, even with food on offer. This time I was dog free, but with my girlfriend.

I ordered the Full English at £12.95. It came with 2 bacon rashers, sausage, fried egg, hash brown, mushroom, tomato, beans and toast. I added black pudding for £2.50, but unfortunately I couldn’t add bubble or a fried slice. This means that the breakfast at Caff is not fully English Breakfast Society compliant. I also ordered a milkshake and a cup of tea.

Unfortunately our order didn’t make it to the grill on the first attempt, but the owner clocked that we hadn’t got our food and stepped in. We were being served by a new recruit and she was learning. We got an extra cup of tea for the inconvenience. Nice recovery.

The food arrived and was lovely. The sausage was very tasty indeed. As I’ve written before, this is something that can let the entire plate down. The mushroom was full of flavour too. The black pudding had something extra in it, perhaps caraway seeds. I’m beginning to acquire a taste for black pudding in my later years. This one was very nice.

I look at the picture now and I don’t think it does the breakfast justice. This one is definitely worth a visit if you are in Poole or Bournemouth. Despite the blip in the service, it gets full marks and I will definitely go again.
